French Argile Pink Clay (Illite & Kaolin Blend)

Body Temple French Clays have been mined in the South of France, near the small city of Apt.  Climatically, this region enjoys an above average number of sunny days.   This is important because the more exposure to the sun means more active the clay becomes. 

Our clays are sun dried as opposed which means our clays retains 100% of its natural trace elements ensuring activity levels are at their highest.  High levels of trace elements ensure high efficacy from the clay.

There are two key properties in clays– Absorption and Adsorption.  These properties are expressed at different degrees in different clays.  The qualities of the minerals in the clays affect their effectiveness and efficiency.  Absorption is filling of pores in a solid, much like a sponge.  Adsorption is the binding of molecules or particles to a surface much like a sticky paper. 

The cosmetic purpose of clays is to cleanse and revitalise the skin, brining out its natural radiance and beauty.  Clays will draw out dirt and impurities from the skin's pores, allowing the skin to breathe and glow.  Clays will also smooth and soften the skin, leaving it feeling youthful and toned.   They can be used topically on the face and body in the form of a mask.

CLAY TYPES

Montmorillonite clays are reputed to be the best quality clay due to the high levels of magnesium.  It contains oxide of iron, aluminium, magnesium, manganese, silica and calcium.  Its purity, Absorption capaicty (20%) and Adsorption capacity(60-70 mg/g) make it far superior to ordinary green clays.

Illite clays are rich in minerals such as calcium carbonate and microelements, and can be used as mineral supplements.  Its Absorption Powers (30%) are able to draw out impurities.  The Adsorption rate is 6-8mg/g. 

Kaolin is rich in silica and mineral salts.  It is less absorbent than green clay thus very gentle and softening on the skin.

There five colours availalbe in Argile Clays all of which can be used as face masks, in cleansers and as body-wraps.

GREEN (Montmoillonite):  With excellent absorbency capacity, the green clay is the most active of clays.  Renowned for its cleansing, clarifying and purifying properties it effectively removes impurities and toxins, and stimulates blood and lymph circulation.   Green clay has analgesic and anit-inflammatory properties which make it beneficial for muscular pain, swelling and arthritic or rheumatic conditions.  Remarkable results can be seen over several courses.  Its toning action stimulates the skin by brining fresh blood to damaged skin cells, revitalising the complexion and tightening pores.  Perfect for congested skin (acne), cellulite, sprains, cuts, infections and excessive sweating.  Suitable for normal and oily skin types.   Caution, due to its strong absorbency powers, this clay is not suitable for sensitive skin types.

  RED (Illite):  The high presence of iron oxide and trace elements is especially beneficial for cell renewal such as rosacea, sunburned skin, chemo-therapy exposed skin, varicose veins, broken capillaries, stretch marks, bruises and burns.   Excellent for strengthening and toning the bust, thighs, stomach and upper arms.  The skin is left cleaned, revitalised and complexion radiant.  Positive soothing effect on irritated and sensitive skin types.  Suitable for all skin types especially sensitive skin types.

                          
YELLOW (Illite):  This clay is the primary choice for problem and trouble skin types such as dermatitis, psoriasis, eczema,  ulcers and acne.  Also gentle enough to use for nappy rash and cradle cap.  Rich in magnesium, silica and iron oxide its powerful healing properties are valuable for restoring healthy skin tones.  Suitable for all skin types including sensitive skin types.

WHITE (Kaolin):  Used for dry and sensitive skin types and indicated for psoriasis and dermatitis.   Exceptional results for alleviating both dry and oily scalp disorders.  Suitable for sensitive, dry, dehydrate & mature skin types.

PINK (Illite & Kaolin Blend):  This balanced blend of iron oxide, silica and trace minerals assists to regenerate connective tissues and improves skin elasticity.   Effective against puffy dark circles under the eyes and for maintaining an even textured skin.  Suitable for all skin types especially sensitive and delicate skin types.

INSTRUCTIONS

When using Superfine French Pink Clay add purified water, or floral water, mix into a paste and apply to the face or body. For one face application use approximately 2-3 teaspoons of clay with equal liquid.  Allow to dry, rinse off with warm water, and complete with your favourite Body Temple Toner and Moisturiser. 

We recommend that you also try adding your preference of essential oils or dried herbs to compliment the mix. Caution to be exercised as clays may stain fabric.

Note:  Each clay will absorb water at a different rate, so add water slowly until you reach the desired texture.
